The Red Light Model is a simple tool that helps people understand their emotional state before starting a conversation. It supports better communication by showing when to pause, slow down, or engage.
When you are in the Red Light state, emotions are intense and reactions may feel overwhelming. This is the time to stop and avoid continuing the conversation until you feel calmer.
In the Yellow Light state, emotions are present but manageable. You can slow down, speak gently, and check if you are ready to continue talking.
In the Green Light state, you are calm, grounded, and able to communicate clearly and listen effectively. This is the best time to have meaningful conversations.
The goal of this model is not to avoid communication, but to improve it by choosing the right emotional timing.
