Global Therapist Alliance at WPA Egypt 2025: A Milestone for Inclusive Mental Health

The World Psychiatry Association (WPA) Egypt 2025 conference brought together some of the most brillian minds in mental health from across the globe. This event was marked by innovative symposiums, insightful research presentations, and dynamic panel debates — all underscored by a spirit of collaboration and cultural respect.

GTA Representation by Dr. Asmaa Elbendary

We are proud to announce that Dr. Asmaa Elbendary represented the Global Therapist Alliance (GTA) at the conference. Her presence underscored GTA’s mission to foster global unity among mental health professionals by embracing cultural diversity and promoting accessibility in psychology.

Dr. Elbendary actively participated in discussions, sharing GTA’s vision of connecting therapists worldwide to exchange knowledge and support each other with compassion and courage.

A Gathering of True Connections Beyond Marketing

One of the most inspiring aspects of the conference was how professionals from countries such as the UK, Dubai, Qatar, and Egypt came together — not through advertisements or marketing funnels but through genuine LinkedIn connections. This highlights the power of professional networking rooted in shared values and mutual respect.

Focus on Self-Care Across Cultures

A key theme of our discussion at WPA Egypt 2025 was “Self-Care Among Therapists and Mental Health Professionals Across Cultures.” Mental health care is deeply influenced by cultural contexts, and every community holds unique wisdom about healing and well-being.

The era of viewing psychology as a solely Western-born science is evolving. Instead, we are entering a new phase of shared knowledge and mutual learning that respects the microcultures shaping how care and healing occur globally.

Gratitude to Our Inspiring Colleagues

We extend heartfelt thanks to the remarkable professionals who enriched our experience at the conference.
Their insights into mental health, wellness, and organizational care helped deepen our understanding and strengthened our commitment to advancing mental health inclusively.

Looking Ahead

The Global Therapist Alliance looks forward to continuing these meaningful global collaborations through our GTA Ambassadorship Program. We are excited to soon share the results of our interviews and research with Egyptian therapists and mental health providers.

If you are a mental health professional practicing in Egypt or the GCC region, we invite you to connect with us. Your insights are invaluable as we work together to build bridges across cultures and reshape the future of mental health.

Together, we can create a more inclusive, culturally humble, and compassionate mental health community — worldwide.
